Christmas in Florida often seems as though it is an ironic statement of what the holiday should be. As I write this, just days before Christmas, I am contemplating whether or not I want to go to the beach as it’s perfect “tanning weather.” Where is the Christmas spirit? Where are the cute Christmas-themed scarves, the decorations at every corner and the fire wood for sale for those cold nights? If you truly look around Jacksonville, Florida, it often appears that we are lacking in the holiday spirit. What did I find that I loved the most at this farmer’s market? Christmas.
The Christmas Farmer’s Market was as close to a traditional Christmas in a big city that I’ll ever get to without leaving Jacksonville, Florida. It was as if I was entering my own Winter Wonderland complete with a trackless train, live holiday music by Journey Church, and Christmas crafts. And what Winter Wonderland would be complete without Santa Claus himself? I felt myself digressing back to that seven-year-old who believed in all of the good things that Christmas brought her and was too young to be jaded by the avarice of it all.
Nocatee created a picturesque Christmas festival that was ideal for all children – no matter how old!
