Let’s start with a riddle: What is red or green, round or oblong, sometimes sweet or sometimes sour? Its produce and it’s locally grown and sold at the Nocatee Farmer’s Market. From pears and apples to bananas and avocados, I love the produce at the Farmer’s Market.
It’s important to buy local produce as opposed to the produce you find at your nearest superstore. The benefits go well beyond saving a buck or two, it’s about the community and at Nocatee, that’s what we’re about.
Support Local Farmers
There is nothing more American than the family famer. Unfortunately, it’s a vanishing breed like a travel agent or newspaper reporter. But we have the chance to rescue the local farmer by purchasing local produce at the farmer’s market. Today, there are less than 1,000,000 people who claim farming as a primary occupation while many of us remember them to be as common as drycleaners operators not too long ago. Stop paying the middleman and support local farmers directly when you pick up your weekly produce at our market in lieu of the grocery store.
Build Community
These days, how often can you say that you met the person who raised the food you put on your table? That’s what you get when you purchase local produce from our farmer’s market. Shake the hand of the farmer who harvested the celery sticks that are an essential part of your child’s ants on a log.
Support the Environment
Local farmers are respectful of the land that helps keep them thriving by utilizing fertile soil and clean water. Farms are often the fields, meadows, and ponds that wildlife habitat as a sanctuary.
When you can invest in the land, the community, and the plight of the local famer, you’ll feel good about the decision you’ve made for your family.
