Nocatee will begin construction this winter on several new amenities. The plans include an expansion of the Splash Water Park, a junior Olympic-size competition pool, basketball courts, a community garden, and a kayak launch on the Intracoastal Waterway. The amenities are expected to be open to residents in late summer 2014.
Splash Water Park Expansion
The new amenities included in the expansion of the community’s popular Splash Water Park:
- New Family Pool
- Children’s Spray Ground
- Additional deck space, shade and covered seating areas
New Amenities
Across the Splash Water Park parking lot in the former location of the Nocatee Farmers Market Field, the developers will be building additional amenities for the Nocatee community.
Junior Olympic Pool
The new junior Olympic-size, eight-lane competition pool, will include shaded bleachers, restrooms, a scoreboard, and an event lawn.
Community Garden
At the new community garden, residents will be able to grow their own food in a communal space with individual plots.
Event Lawn
The new event lawn will be reserved for resident events and activities, and also serve as a central gathering place for some of the newly formed Nocatee Clubs and Interest Groups. Many events that residents enjoy each month, such as the Nocatee Drive-In Movies, will be held on the new event lawn.
Basketball Courts
A major component of the new multi-purpose activity courts are three half-court basketball courts for residents to enjoy.
Kayak Launch
The Intracoastal Waterway community kayak and paddle sports launch will be located on the west back of the Intracoastal Waterway under the Palm Valley Bridge. The launching facility will be for kayaks, canoes and paddle boards.
The developer expects construction to last through winter and spring, with no interruption to current amenities, including the Splash Water Park.
