Summer camps and staycations are drawing to a close for many Nocatee families as the beginning of a brand new school year is drawing near. Before the school bell starts ringing, consider these 7 tips to minimize the pain for both students and parents:

 

1. Take your kids shopping for school supplies. Get them excited about going back to school by allowing them to showcase their personalities through folders, pencils, backpacks and other school supplies. Be sure you have the teacher’s list of required items before hitting the stores.

New K-8 Nocatee School to be Located Between Nocatee Parkway and Twenty Mile Neighborhoods

St. Johns County School District’s newest K-8 school will be located adjacent to Nocatee’s Twenty Mile neighborhoods, according to The PARC Group, Nocatee’s master developer. Construction of the school, built on land donated by Nocatee, will begin this summer, opening for the 2018-19 school year.

Planning Begins for New St. Johns County School in Nocatee

The planning process for new St. Johns County schools is now underway.

This morning, the St. Johns County School Board confirmed plans for three new schools in northern part of the County, including a K-8 school in the Nocatee community [to open for 2017-18 school year]. The school site in Nocatee has not been finalized, but is expected to be identified early 2016. The County's schedule of a Spring 2016 construction start date was also announced.

New York Times Report: St. Johns Healthiest County in Florida

The New York Times Quality of Life Study (June 2014) ranked St. Johns County as the highest in Florida.

Out of the 3,135 counties in the United States, St. Johns County came in at the top 4 percent nationwide with its 113th ranking. The study looked at various quality of life indicators, including education, median household income, unemployment rate, life expectancy  and obesity.
